Grounding Elements
Grounding Elements help individuals ground back into their bodies, clear blocked energy, and help get balanced within themselves. They have helped people rebalance, realign, and recenter themselves for centuries. All grounding elements are useful, but in our sessions, you will learn which grounding element aligns with you for the particular time period or experience you are going through.
These are general strategies which have helped many of my clients stay grounded, balanced, or come back to neutral. I may have also shared some resources specific to you during our individual session. In case you have misplaced them, here they are again.

MetalIf Metal is your grounding element, there are many ways you can bring this element deeper into your everyday life. You can ride a bike, soak in a hot tub or bathtub with Epsom Salt or Magnesium, play with metal singing bowls, cook with metal utensils, or take a long car drive to help ease your spirit. Tap into your childlike nature and jump on a trampoline or swing on a swing.
With a physician's permission, use weight training to help rebuild your physical system. Walking with your bare feet on the earth, wearing metal jewelry, and playing instruments can help, too. Using grounding rods alone or while doing breathwork or during meditation can help calm the mind. Sitting with specific crystals or using anything metal can help you get focused and stay in the present moment longer. You can listen to metal sounds like singing bowls or wind chimes or anything brass. |
Air & WaterIf Air is your grounding element, get out, and get some fresh air. Walk in nature or around the block and breathe deeply! Hiking will help you clear out negative energy. If possible and permitted by a physician, vigorously exercising for about 20-30 min is also a great way to use air (your breath) to help ground you. Keep the windows open to feel the fresh air indoors or use air filters, air diffusers, and essential oils. You can play wind sounds or play instruments or listen to music with flutes or listen to opera. Sing loudly and proudly to your favorite songs or have a karaoke night or even have a dance party! Explore your world and go on a mini day trip! Lastly, you can even try different kinds of meditations.

If Water is your grounding element, you can use water to help ground and rebalance your energy by taking more showers or baths with essential oils. If permitted by physicians, sit in hot tubs, saunas or steam rooms. You can spray water mist or essential oil mist sprays around you. Playing with water, like water balloons, washing dishes, doing chores using water, watering the garden or indoor/out door plants, taking care of fishes or cleaning tank, watching lava lamps can help you get back to your center. Washing hands especially after interacting with people, drinking water or doing sweat inducing activities like hiking or walking or bike riding or running will help you get grounded. You can visit lakes, oceans, bays, and waterfalls or see pictures of them. You can listen to water sounds. Try and get creative by using water in different and safe ways to help you rebalance yourself.
Earth & FireIf Earth is your grounding element then spend time in nature. Take long walks or go on a short or long hiking trails. Spend time in gardens or arboretums or forests. Visit national forests and take a guided tour. Use forest bathing guided meditation walks to help ground you. You can use the earth element by tending or planting new bushes or flowers or grow vegetables in your garden, patio, community garden plots or even a pot by your window. Have fun arranging flowers or buy some wonderful flowers for yourself. Do environmental or conservation projects! Walking bare feet on the earth will help you recenter and bring you back to this moment. You can listen to nature sounds or sing in nature. Be brave and hug a tree, you never know what secrets it will share with you!

If Fire is your grounding element spend time in warm and cozy spaces. Give or receive long hugs. Use weighted blankets or wrap yourself in a warm or soft blanket. Sit by a fire or light candles and relax. Candle grazing would be a great meditation to try! With a physicians permission, drink warm liquids and eat spicy foods. Always wear comfortable clothing! Read or listen to books which touch your heart and spirit. Write letters to loved ones or stories or poems or start a gratitude journal. Ignite the passion inside of you with activities you know will help release your trapped energy. Use your emotions to create art, dance, or music. Use exercise or take breath work class or try kundalini's breath of fire to warm up your body, mind, and spirit. Join a debate team or do an activity which brings passion into your life. Try something new and cross something off the adventures list. Be bold, creative, and expressive!
